About me

Brazilian textile artist based in the Netherlands, with a background in fashion. Explores embroidery, mending and crochet through tactile experiments, working primarily with thrifted materials.

The crochet and weaving stand out for their bright, lively palettes, which emerge as each piece is made. The same freedom runs through the slow stitch work, where each piece grows out of a dialogue between colour and stitch, in search of a harmony made of different shapes, colours and sizes. These pieces are usually named after beaches in northeastern Brazil, or figures from folklore and carnival.

The freehand embroidery comes from a more intimate process, about working through joys and sorrows, mourning and saudade, and about being Latina and immigrant. Many of those pieces begin as illustrations.
